The decision to take one of the most popular sport luxury vehicles to date and turn it into a street-able demo for Soundstream was not easy. Marshall Woolford of MARS AUDIO “Sound and Beyond” wanted to come aggressive with his 2002 Lexus IS300 and the two most popular aftermarket industries, Audio and Performance.
|
He visualized the design concept that would reach not only the “Audiophile,” but the “Autophile” as well. To accomplish this, Marshall contacted the most popular names in the industry. Most were intrigued to see how “Mars Audio, Sound and Beyond” was going to become known for speed and performance. After three months of continuous contact, the manufacturers chosen for the build were on board, and off he went. The first 6 months of the build was receiving and installing Japan direct performance products.

Soundstream’s signified night crawler Tarantula was a perfect for his concept. Before you attempt to step inside this dark menace, your hit head on by a 3-D graphic of what’s waiting. Once you open the door your greeted by multiple night crawlers with their eyes lit in blue LED’s. To take control of what’s lurking in the rear, Soundstream’s new GUI head unit is at your fingertips, which also controls an I-Pod mounted neatly in the console area.

Two sets of Reference components and custom door panels wrapped in matching perforated sued and exterior color matched interior trim only add to the sport luxury concept of this Lexus IS300. If the passengers get stuck in the web of a back seat, Woolford installed two 7” touch screen monitors to stay entertained. An additional set of Reference components is located in the passenger doors and rear deck only to complete this Tarantula filled machine.

To fulfill the vision of a sinister system and carry over the dark theme, Marshall took Soundstream’s night crawler a step further. Waiting in the trunk are FOUR 10” Subwoofers covered by four chrome tarantula grills. In the trunk lid are two more monitors for viewing if the bug bites you. If you missed their gloss black finish, FOUR Soundstream Tarantula amplifiers power the entire nest, both inside the cabin and trunk. To keep things fused properly, a color matched Power Plant and blue LED lighting thru out have made Marshall’s and the guys at MARS AUDIO “Sound and Beyond” dark menace a true reality. |

The Lexus IS300 and its concept has been a huge success and I can not express enough appreciation to all my sponsors and to those who have contributed with bringing it to reality. However, I personally want to thank Grizz, Brandon and Chuck at Soundstream for believing in me. I would also like to thank my close friends Sam “Picasso” Barker for his work and Jason Rockefeller for his idea. Most of all I want to thank Shelah “Mighty Mouse” Woolford, my wife, for her patients, understanding and support during this project and has continued thru out this entire journey, I love you.
